D Project Space is pleased to present knit designer KIM Misu and animation artist KIM Youngjun with their exhibition from 25 July to 23 August 2015. KIM Misu, who has produced collections based upon imaginary scenarios, presents a reconstructed ‘space’ built from privately accumulated times and memories. KIM Youngjun, who has expressed his thought on human beings and their symbiotic relationships through animated and illustrative works, introduces a ‘moving illustration’ that reacquaints the audience with the things they commonly overlook in their daily lives. As the common language that threads through both artists’ different interests, ‘Being and Not Being’ are demonstrated in each artist’s own expression in the exhibition.
KIM Youngjun's work carries a story about his delicate attention and interest in ‘things’ that people do not pay enough attention to and pass by in their hectic lives.
Through his serene illustration, he sheds light on the existence of small and insignificant creatures in the ordinary streets, parks and nature and the value of their beauty, and points out that life and death are inseparable and simultaneous common phenomena in relation to human beings and their surrounding environments.
대림미술관 프로젝트 스페이스 구슬모아 당구장은 2015년 7월 25일부터 8월 23일까지 니트 디자이너 김미수와 애니메이션 아티스트 김영준의 전시 을 소개한다. ‘있음과 없음’은 서로 다른 두 작가의 관심사를 포괄하는 공통언어로, 가상의 시나리오에 기반한 컬렉션을 제작해 온 김미수는 사적인 장소에 축적된 시간과 기억을 재구성한 ‘공간’을 통해, 사람과 그를 둘러싼 주변의 공생관계에 대한 생각을 애니메이션과 일러스트레이션으로 제작해 온 김영준은 개인이 삶 속에서 놓치는 존재들을 재인식하게 하는 ‘무빙 일러스트레이션’을 통해 각자의 ‘있음과 없음’을 한 공간에서 선보인다.
김영준의 작업은 분주한 삶 속에서 자세히 살피지 못하고 지나쳐버리는 ‘것’들에 대한 자상한 관심을 드러내는 이야기이다. 작가는 주변의 장소인 길, 공원, 자연에서 아무도 모르게 소멸해버리는 ‘미물’들의 존재와 그들이 지닌 아름다움의 가치를 조명하며, 사람과 그를 둘러싼 주변에서 ‘삶’과 ‘죽음’이 서로 분리되지 않는 동시다발적인 일상의 현상임을 담담한 애니메이션 영상으로 담아낸다. 이번 전시에서 작가는 새롭게 선보이는 신작 설치영상 5점과 다수의 그림이미지를 통해 관객 스스로가 삶 속에서 놓쳐버린 장면을 재인식하고 평범하고 익숙하여 미처 인지하지 못한 주변의 ‘것’들의 존재를 일깨운다.
